Here comes another innovation and a massive expansion of the ALPHA II spectrometer’s applications—all thanks to its modular design. The latest addition is a module optimized for monitoring chemical reactions in situ and in real time.
INSITU-ATR is an angle-adjustable ATR probe with a diamond ATR crystal that connects to the ALPHA II spectrometer without any tools thanks to the QuickSnap system. This makes the ALPHA II a fully-fledged tool for in-situ monitoring of chemical reactions—whether in a bioreactor, pipeline, or other reaction vessel—without the need to take samples.
The probe has a full spectral range and is made of stainless steel—plus, its position is easily adjustable, which maximizes ease of spatial orientation and provides flexibility for the entire measurement setup.
A major advantage is that INSITU-ATR does not require a separate platform—it simply expands the capabilities of the existing ALPHA II spectrometer to include a new area of application. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the module is easy to install even in confined spaces, such as a fume hood, and can be adapted to a specific reaction setup.
Thanks to the QuickSnap system, replacing the module takes just seconds and requires no tools. The spectrometer automatically recognizes and calibrates the probe, eliminating the risk of setup errors and minimizing the time spent preparing for measurements.
In addition, the diamond ATR crystal ensures high chemical resistance and broad applicability across both organic and inorganic substances. The probe can thus withstand even more demanding reaction environments.
The measured data can be analyzed directly in the OPUS Reaction Monitoring software, which offers tools for visualizing the reaction process in both 2D and 3D spectra, kinetic analysis, and the identification of intermediates and final products. It is therefore not just about tracking trends, but about a true chemical interpretation of the data.
